Innovative Residential was founded in 2006 and quickly became Saskatchewan’s most celebrated provider of quality, entry-level housing. Since 2008, Innovative has built quality homes and worked with partners in government and the private sector, creating unique housing programs and solutions to provide hard working families with a hand-up into home ownership.

Big Block Construction was born out of more than a decade of development experience under the Innovative Residential banner. Through that work, the Big Block team helped solve Saskatoon’s affordable housing crisis by mastering efficient building practices using modular construction and developing unique financial assistance programs in partnership with Innovative Residential, the City of Saskatoon, and the National Affordable Housing Corporation.

We’ve since grown into an award-winning construction firm devoted to sharing our expertise through done-with-you development strategy backed by sustainable building science. The Big Block team has been a part of developing and managing more than 30 multi-unit residential construction projects totalling 1,500+ units and more than $500 million in construction value.
